"My love of working with wood began at the age of 10 when the barn on our family farm burned down. That summer my father built a new one and I was his helper. Hammering nails, the smell of the wood, the whole experience stayed with me.Although I tried a few small projects, it was not until retirement that I got serious about working with wood. That began when the small community I live in gave me a lathe as a retirement gift.Training involved a day with Herman deVries where he showed me the basics. (I took notes and still refer to them). As a member of WAM one of first lessons I learned was how much I don’t know. Every meeting helps change that. Woodturning is my relaxation, my challenge, and my passion.."WAM is proud to honour Donna as our featured artist. She is a long time member and always brings creative and interesting work to show us.
